The experience
You board a longtail boat at Ko Lipe and spend seven hours moving between islands and reef sites across the Satun UNESCO Global Geopark. The captain and crew handle navigation and timing. Your job is to snorkel, swim and photograph. Each stop has its own character: Ko Hin Son is famous for a giant balancing rock rising from the sea; Ko Dong has a white sand beach where monkeys come down to the shore; Ko Phai opens onto a reef thick with soft corals, clownfish and parrotfish. The Jabang Channel, the trip's highlight, is a seven-color coral garden where the reef walls drop in reds, pinks, purples and oranges.
Snorkeling gear, mask, snorkel and fins are provided, as is a life jacket. The boat carries accident insurance and a crew trained to keep watch throughout the day. Lunch is a box meal. Drinking water and seasonal fruits are refilled at each stop. A GoPro or DJI captures underwater shots and you receive the photos free. The water is clear enough that you can see the reef structure and fish movement from the surface, and the sites are chosen for easy entry and calm conditions: no strong currents or technical diving required.
Ko Hin Ngam, covered in smooth black volcanic stones, is a photo stop where the crew often warns visitors not to pocket the rocks (local legend says they bring bad luck). Koh Rok Roy and Koh Phung round out the day with quieter beaches and more reef time. The boat returns to Ko Lipe in the late afternoon. Note that the National Park entrance fee (200 THB per person) is paid separately at the pier to park officers on the day of the trip.
