Snorkel five islands surrounding Koh Lipe in Tarutao National Park with a small group, English-speaking guide, snorkel gear and lunch included. The five-and-a-half-hour outing runs five days a week with safety instruction before departure and a professional guide throughout.

The experience

Five and a half hours on the water means you leave Koh Lipe in the morning and are back by early afternoon. The boat departs from Star Travel office on the walking street near Pattaya Beach, thirty minutes after you arrive. Your English-speaking guide briefs the group on snorkeling technique and safety before the engine starts. From there the route is fixed: Jabang Island first, where pink soft coral, lavender soft coral and red soft coral grow dense enough that the reef looks layered, and fish move through it in schools. The guide stays in the water with the group at each stop.

Koh Hin Ngam comes next, a small island southwest of Adang covered in black polished volcanic stones worn smooth by waves over thousands of years. You can swim there or wade the shallows and collect stones (the itinerary mentions a tradition of stacking twelve rocks and making a wish). Koh Yang holds hard coral in shallow water and soft corals at depth draped over big boulders. Lunch is a package meal served on Koh Rawi's white sand beach, with drinking water and seasonal fruit provided throughout the day. A final snorkel stop at Koh Adang rounds out the five islands before the return to Lipe.

Snorkel masks and fins are supplied. Life jackets are mandatory and provided. The group stays small. Your guide speaks English and Thai, and children from age two are welcome (infants sit on an adult's lap). The boat carries basic accident insurance for all guests. Lost or damaged snorkel gear is charged at full replacement cost.
