Zanzibar Tandem Skydive: 10,000ft Jump & Beach Landing
Jump Over Zanzibar's Beaches at 10,000 Feet
You'll receive safety equipment including harness and goggles, complete a brief training session, then jump tandem with an international instructor from 10,000 feet. Thirty seconds of freefall is followed by a 5–10 minute parachute descent ending on Kendwa beach. Photos and video footage are included and delivered shortly after landing.
Step-by-step itinerary
Tandem skydive over Zanzibar
- Attend brief skydiving training
- Skydive from 10,000 feet
- Experience 30 seconds free fall
- Glide 5-10 minutes under parachute
- Land on Kendwa white sandy beach
The Experience
The harness doesn't feel quite as snug as you'd hoped when they're fastening it, and your instructor—a quiet guy named Marcus with maybe five thousand jumps under his belt—notices you checking the buckles twice. He just smiles and says that's normal, then walks you through the exit one more time. The plane climbs steadily, and somewhere around 8,000 feet you stop thinking about what could go wrong and start noticing the Indian Ocean spreading out below, this impossible blue-green that doesn't look real from ground level.
The door opens at 10,000 feet and the wind hits different than you expected—louder, colder, more present. Marcus taps your shoulder, counts down, and then you're falling. Thirty seconds of freefall sounds short until you're in it; the ocean and beaches of Zanzibar rush up in a way that makes your stomach forget which direction is which. Then the parachute deploys and suddenly everything slows down. The roar becomes a whisper. You can see individual palms on Kendwa beach, the curve of the coastline, boats that look like toys. The 5 to 10 minute descent under canopy is quieter than the fall, but somehow more real—you're floating, not plummeting, and the view doesn't stop.
Landing on the white sand is anticlimactic in the best way. Your legs are shaking, your face probably looks ridiculous, and Marcus is already unbuckling you while asking if you want to go again tomorrow. The photos and videos they've captured from multiple angles arrive within hours, and you'll spend the next week sending them to people who ask if you actually did that or if it's photoshopped. Weight limit is 105 kilograms; the briefing takes about an hour before you board, and they'll tell you straight if you have any medical conditions that make this a no-go—spinal issues, pregnancy, or serious heart concerns mean sitting this one out.
