- Swim and explore Kuza Cave
- Relax at Paje beach
- Dine at The Rock Restaurant
The experience
The tour starts in Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park, a tropical forest reserve built around one of Zanzibar's most important ecosystems. The red colobus monkey lives nowhere else on earth, and the guide takes you into the forest to find them among the lush vegetation and mangrove trees. The forest itself is the draw: dense, wet, and layered with life that most beach days never reach.
Kuza Cave is where the day shifts from walking to swimming. The entrance has a few steps and ropes down to the opening, and the cave water sits about three meters deep: clear enough that you cannot see where it starts. Connected sub-caves run much deeper. The cave is not dark or difficult to access, and swimming here is the centerpiece of the afternoon.
The tour ends at Paje Beach on the southeast coast, known for powdery sand and clear water, or at the Rock Restaurant in Michamvi Pingwe, a structure built on rock that overlooks the shore. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one additional language, and the van is air-conditioned. Bottled water and entrance fees are included. Lunch is on your own.
