The experience

The route moves through four parks in six days, each one adding a different piece of Tanzania's wildlife picture. Tarangire opens the safari with dense elephant herds and acacia woodland. The park is most active during the June-to-September dry season. From there the tour heads into the Serengeti, where you'll spend three days watching the migration: morning and afternoon game drives let you follow the herds and spot predators at the crossing points. The guide handles all the driving and narration, calling out animals and explaining behavior as the day unfolds.

Accommodation shifts between safari lodges and luxury tented camps as you move through the parks. All six nights are included, along with meals and 1.5 liters of drinking water per day. The 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof gives you a clear view during game drives, and the professional guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or one additional language. You'll confirm your preference at booking. Park fees for non-residents and all taxes are built into the price.

The final day descends into the Ngorongoro Crater, a caldera where rhino, lion, buffalo, elephant, zebra, hippo and wildebeest all live together. You'll game drive the crater floor in the morning, then have lunch at a picnic site overlooking the Ngoitoktok swamp before the drive back to Arusha. Hotel pickup on day one is included. The tour ends in Arusha after breakfast on day six.
