The experience
Kisanga Homestay sits in a lush jungle setting near Arusha National Park, where you'll stay in a cosy house surrounded by banana trees and farm animals. Your host Maggy and her family run the place as a genuine home, not a tourist operation. You eat what they eat, help with what they do, and sleep in one of two double rooms. Check-in happens after 2:00 PM on your arrival day, and you have until 11:00 AM to leave on day three.
The activities are built into the rhythm of the household. You'll cook local dishes alongside your host, learning the ingredients and techniques used every day. Coffee roasting happens with beans harvested from the property itself. Cow milking, banana harvesting, animal feeding, and a door-to-door tour of the neighborhood round out the work. Nothing staged, all of it part of how the family operates. Breakfast arrives every morning except your first day. Lunch and dinner come every day except your last. A Sunday church service is available if your dates fall that way.
The homestay offers two room types: Village Stay with simple facilities, or Comfort Stay with more amenities. You choose at checkout. Public transportation runs nearby if you want to explore Arusha on your own. Optional add-ons available on-site include a three-hour hike up Sakila Mountain, a traditional dance session, a visit to Ngurdoto Crater, or a tour of Beetopia to see African bee diversity. These cost extra and can be arranged after you arrive.
