The experience
You arrive at the meeting point and ride a gondola straight to the takeoff location in the mountains. A professional paragliding pilot walks you through a short flight briefing. Nothing technical, just what to expect and how to position yourself in the harness. Within ten minutes of gearing up, you're airborne, suspended in a dual paraglider with the pilot managing every input while you take in the panorama.
The flight itself lasts around 2 hours and covers the Lucerne Region and Engelberg Valley, one of Switzerland's most celebrated valleys. Lucerne Lake sits directly below, ringed by the Swiss Alps. The pilot chooses the route based on wind and thermals, so each flight is different. You're not operating the equipment (the pilot does all that), but you're fully present in the moment, seeing what few people see from that vantage.
Tandem gear, a camera to capture the flight, third-party liability insurance and accident coverage are all included. The guide speaks English, Spanish or German, so language is not a barrier. Children from age 8 can fly, and the activity suits most fitness levels, though it's not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with cardiovascular concerns.
