The experience

The tour starts at the Circus in Basseterre, the town's historic hub rebuilt after the 1867 fire that destroyed much of the eastern side. From there, the guide takes you through Independence Square (laid out to resemble a Union Jack), and past the Co-Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and St. George's Anglican Church, both standing on the eastern edge of the capital. The route then moves west to Old Road Town, where Thomas Warner and the first English settlers landed in 1624, and continues to Bloody Point, named for the Massacre of the Kalinago that occurred there during the early colonial conflicts between European settlers and the island's native residents.

Timothy Hill is the high point of the route, offering a 360-degree view that takes in both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, along with Friar's and Frigate bays, Nevis, and the peninsula itself. The Berkeley Memorial, erected in 1883 and the only public memorial to an individual in St. Kitts for many years, also features on the itinerary. Entry fees to all sites are covered, and the tour wraps up with a local Kittitian lunch and a complimentary drink at one of the island's beach restaurant-bars before returning to your pickup point.

An air-conditioned vehicle carries the group, and a minimum of four passengers is required for the tour to operate. Vegetarian meal options are available, and the tour suits all fitness levels. Wheelchair accessibility is available, and infants can travel in a pram or stroller, though small children must sit on an adult's lap.
