The experience

Leopards are most active at dawn, which is why the safari starts at 4:30 AM. The early light also cuts the heat and keeps the animals moving through the open terrain where a 4x4 jeep can follow. Your guide knows where to look: the waterholes, the rocky outcrops, the patches of scrub where a leopard might be resting after a night's hunt. Elephants, buffalo, sloth bears, crocodiles, jackals and snakes all share the park, and the guide will spot them long before you would on your own.

The jeep is built for the terrain and the long hours: comfortable seats, shade, and space to move a camera or binoculars without bumping your neighbor. Breakfast arrives mid-morning, eaten at a stop inside the park. Lunch follows in the afternoon. Water and fresh fruit are available throughout the day. The guide handles navigation and timing. You watch the landscape roll past and wait for movement in the grass.

The safari runs until 11:30 AM if you book the early morning option, though afternoon and full-day departures are available if you prefer a different schedule. Pickup from your hotel is included.
