The experience
What makes this safari different is the planning. Your driver-guide uses the latest wildlife sightings and local knowledge to plot each route, rather than following a fixed path like group tours do. You're not competing with other jeeps for space or waiting for crowds to clear. The jeep itself is registered with Sri Lanka Tourism and built for the terrain: safe, comfortable, and set up so you can photograph without fighting for position.
The day starts with hotel pickup from Tissamaharama, Yala, or Kataragama (anywhere within 30 km of the park entrance). You'll carry binoculars and a 300ml bottle of water. A breakfast pack is available if you want one. The jeep holds your group alone, so the guide can adjust speed and stops based on what you want to see and how long you want to linger. Ethical wildlife viewing matters here: the operator avoids crowds and focuses on giving you time for photographs rather than rushing between sightings.
You choose the timing: morning, evening, half-day (4–5 hours), or full-day (around 6 hours). All park entrance fees, safari costs, taxes and service charges are included upfront, so there's nothing to negotiate or pay again at the gate. Drop-off happens back at your hotel when the safari ends.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (6 to 12 years); Infant (1 to 5 years): free.
What wildlife am I likely to see in Yala National Park?
Sri Lankan leopards are the main draw, along with wild elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, jackals, water buffalo, spotted deer, peacocks and monkeys. The park is also home to over 200 bird species. Your guide uses recent sightings to route the jeep toward active areas, though wildlife spotting is never guaranteed.
How does the private jeep differ from a group safari tour?
You have your own 4WD vehicle and guide for the entire safari, so the route can change based on what your group wants to see and how long you want to stay at each spot. Group tours follow fixed itineraries and share space with other jeeps. This one is yours alone.
What's included in the price, and what costs extra?
Park entrance fees, safari cost, all taxes and service charges, hotel pickup and drop-off, binoculars and bottled water are all included. A breakfast pack is available as an add-on if you want one.
Can I book a morning or evening safari, or is it full-day only?
You can choose morning, evening, half-day (4–5 hours) or full-day (around 6 hours) options. Each departure time is available as a separate booking.
Do I need any experience or fitness level to go on this safari?
The safari suits all physical fitness levels. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller. You'll be sitting in the jeep most of the time, so mobility is not a barrier.
