Pidurangala, a few kilometres north of Sigiriya, has a steeper climb (about two hours if you're fit) and less to see than Sigiriya, but the history is tied to the fortress itself. The driver handles navigation and the vehicle stays air-conditioned between stops.

The private format means you skip the long entry queues at each site. You arrive, walk straight in, and move at your own pace through the temples and up the rock. The driver waits with the vehicle.
