The experience
You're picked up at your Marbella hotel and driven to Gibraltar, where your guide meets you at the Winston Churchill Avenue border crossing. From there, the tour moves through the Nature Reserve on foot, stopping first at St. Michael's Cave: a limestone chamber with stalactites, stalagmites and illuminated rock columns that now serves as a natural auditorium. The cave sits high on the Rock and opens onto views across the strait.
The Barbary macaques are the only wild primates living freely in Europe, and you'll visit one of their groups in their natural habitat. Your guide explains how they've survived here and what makes them distinct from other macaque populations. You'll also pass the remains of the Moorish Castle as you move through the reserve. The Great Siege Tunnels (carved into the Rock during the 18th century to defend Gibraltar from Spanish and French attack) form the final major stop. If your group is larger than eight, this visit is replaced by a stop at Europa Point instead, the southernmost tip of the peninsula.
The tour runs four hours total and operates in all weather. Your guide speaks English or Spanish, and you choose your departure city (Marbella or Malaga) at checkout. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so the only logistics you handle is being ready at your accommodation.
