The experience

The tour starts with pickup at your hotel in Marbella, Estepona or Malaga, then a drive to Casares town in the hills. Once you arrive, your guide meets you and leads you through the white-washed streets to Blas Infante's birthplace, where you learn about the man recognized as the father of Andalusia and see a preserved 19th-century house. The route then moves through the main square, where the San Sebastian church and the fountain of Charles III stand, and climbs into the older upper town while your guide shares the stories and history layered into the place.

The second half of the tour takes you to the Moorish castle remains and the defensive wall, then out to the clifftop where you can watch for griffon vultures and take in the views that stretch across the Mediterranean, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the limestone peaks beyond. You also visit the Blas Infante Cultural Center, built on the site of a 16th-century church, and the cemetery with its distinctive whitewashed niches.
