The experience

Your guide meets you after hotel pickup from the Costa del Sol and walks you through Mijas on foot, starting at the chapel of the Virgin of the Rock. The route traces the village's Moorish history (you'll see the remains of the old wall and the Constitution square), then climbs to the main church, which the guide explains for its artistic heritage. From there you move to the bullring (viewed from outside), then down through the botanical garden, where the view opens to the sea.

The commercial street closes the loop, passing the old craft museum and the Contemporary Art museum on the way to the San Sebastian Hermitage. If weather permits, an outdoor flamenco show happens along this stretch. After the guided portion, you get free time before the driver takes you back to your accommodation. The tour operates rain or shine. Bring an umbrella in wet weather and sunscreen and water in summer heat. Comfortable shoes matter. The streets are steep in places.

You choose your pickup location at checkout: Estepona or Nerja, Marbella or Malaga, or Ronda or Antequera. Groups of one to three travel in a car; four to eight in a van; eight or more in a minibus. Only the minibus option includes the guide during transport. Smaller groups meet the guide in Mijas itself. You can add entry to one interior site (the bullring, Contemporary Art museum, or a wine tasting) at checkout, though entrance tickets cost extra.
