Three neighborhoods in one night: Chinatown's night market, the Singapore River lit up, and Little India's temples and street art

You're picked up at your hotel, taken to Chinatown for Chinese dinner, then onto a bumboat to see the Singapore River and Marina Bay Sands lit up at night. After that comes Little India: a temple, street murals, jasmine garland making, and a traditional henna experience before dessert. Hotel drop-off included; the whole evening takes about four to five hours.

4h

Step-by-step itinerary

  • See Indian murals on Upper Dickinson Road
  • Watch jasmine garland making at Campbell Lane
  • Experience Mehndi Henna at Selvi’s
  • Enjoy dessert at Apollo Village

The Experience

You're picked up from your hotel as the sun drops. By 7:30pm you're sitting down to Chinese dinner at a local restaurant in Chinatown, the kind of place where the owner knows the regulars and the menu doesn't need translation because the food speaks for itself. After eating, your group walks down to Clarke Quay where a bumboat is waiting — these flat-bottomed wooden boats are how locals have moved along the Singapore River for decades, and tonight you're on one as the city switches on. The Merlion lights up. Marina Bay Sands throws its water display across the dark. Restored shophouses glow yellow. The financial district towers turn into something almost soft when they're reflected in the water at night.

Once you're back on land, the air-conditioned vehicle takes you to Little India, which is a different kind of alive. Sri Veerakaliamman Temple sits right there on the main street — your guide walks you through its history, and then you cross the road to where the real texture of the neighborhood shows itself. Upper Dickinson Road has Indian murals painted across entire building facades. At Campbell Lane, you stop to watch locals weave jasmine garlands and wrist garlands by hand, the flowers still fresh, their fingers moving in a rhythm that takes years to learn. Then Selvi's, where a henna artist applies traditional Mehndi designs — not the tourist version, the actual thing, intricate and slow.

The tour ends at Apollo Village on Hastings Road with dessert, which lands around 10:30pm. You get back to your hotel sometime after that. The whole Chinatown & Little India night tour runs with small groups — minimum two adults — so it doesn't feel like you're herded through. There's a complimentary drink voucher included (valid June–August 2026), redeemable for either a half-pint beer or soft drink before the tour starts.
