The experience
The tour starts in Kampong Glam, the Malay and Muslim quarter, where your guide walks you past the Sultan Mosque and through the narrow streets lined with boutiques and photo spots. At a small eatery and tea shop, you taste the first of your 9 tastings: a mix of 7 or 8 food and snack portions (shared) and 2 or 1 individual local drinks. The guide explains the quarter's origins and points out details you'd otherwise miss.
From there you move into Little India, walking the busy streets past fruit and vegetable shops, flower garland stalls, goldsmiths and pawnshops. Your guide takes you through a wet market where locals buy fresh produce and Indian spices, then to a hawker centre for authentic South Indian food tastings. The sights, sounds and scents of the place are part of the experience itself.
You travel to Chinatown by MRT (the public transport system locals use every day), which gives you a sense of how the city moves. In Chinatown, your guide shows you around the busy streets, past the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and its architecture, and reveals hidden gems and interesting facts. A final stop at a Chinatown hawker centre brings local coffee and snacks to close out the tastings. The whole walk is 3 hours, and you're on foot the entire time.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 12 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What exactly do I taste on this tour?
You sample 9 local tastings across the three quarters: 7 or 8 food and snack portions (shared between you and your guide) and 2 or 1 individual local drinks. Each stop is at an authentic hawker centre or small eatery where locals actually eat, not a restaurant set up for tourists.
Do I need to arrange my own way to the starting point?
You can choose the option with hotel pickup and drop-off included, or book without transfers and meet your guide at the starting location. Either way, your guide is a private, licensed English-speaking guide for the full 3 hours.
Is the MRT ride included, or do I pay separately?
MRT tickets to Chinatown are included in the tour price. You travel the same way residents do, which is part of experiencing the city.
How much walking is involved?
This is a walking tour, so you're on foot for the full 3 hours across the three quarters. It's suitable for all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travellers with mobility issues since there's no vehicle transport between stops.
What's the difference between the two booking options?
The only difference is whether hotel pickup and drop-off are included. Both options include the same 3-hour private tour, 9 tastings, MRT tickets and English-speaking guide. You choose at checkout whether you want transfers from your hotel.
