The experience
The safari departs from MIA Park and heads south out of Doha into open desert. Once the landscape shifts to sand, the driver deflates the 4x4's tires for grip on the dunes, then maneuvers across the rolling terrain. This is the dune bashing portion, where the vehicle tilts and climbs in ways that feel extreme but are controlled by the skilled driver. You'll stop at the top of a dune to photograph the expanse, then try sand boarding on the slopes if you want to get out and slide down.
The first major stop includes a camel ride and traditional coffee or tea while the driver reinflates the tires. From there, the route pushes further south toward the Inland Sea, a natural wonder where seawater has carved a lagoon deep into the desert: inaccessible by road and reachable only by crossing the dunes. This UNESCO reserve has its own ecosystem and is one of the few places on earth where the sea penetrates so far inland. You'll have time for a short swim before heading back to the city, arriving at MIA Park roughly four to five hours after departure.
The group is shared, so you'll travel with other visitors. The maximum group size is 99. Bottled water is provided throughout, and the air-conditioned vehicle offers relief between stops. Children from age 4 can join, though the experience is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health. The tour depends on good weather. If conditions force a cancellation, you'll be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
Is this one for you?Choose the option with the camel ride if you want the full cultural stop and photo moment. Pick the version without it if you prefer to spend more time sand boarding or swimming at the Inland Sea. Both reach the same desert landmarks and UNESCO reserve, so the choice depends on which activities matter most to you.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 10 years). Children under 4 can't be included in the booking.
What is the Inland Sea and why is it worth the drive?
The Inland Sea (Khor Al Adaid) is a UNESCO-recognized natural reserve about 60km south of Doha where seawater has carved a lagoon deep into the desert: one of the few places in the world where the ocean reaches this far inland. It has its own ecosystem and can only be reached by crossing the dunes. You'll have time for a short swim once you arrive.
How does dune bashing work and what should I expect?
Dune bashing is the drive across the sand dunes in a 4x4 vehicle. The driver deflates the tires for better grip on the sand, then maneuvers the vehicle up and down the rolling terrain, which creates a thrilling, tilted ride. You'll stop at the top of a dune to take photographs before moving on.
Can I try sand boarding, and is it difficult?
Yes, sand boarding is included and you can try it on the dunes during the tour. The experience welcomes all physical fitness levels, so beginners can participate. It's a chance to slide down the sandy slopes at your own pace.
What's included in the camel ride stop?
At the first major stop in the desert, you get a camel ride and traditional coffee or tea. This happens while the driver reinflates the vehicle's tires after dune bashing, so it's a natural break in the action.
