The experience
Six to eight hours lets you cover both the city and the desert without splitting the day. The morning moves through Doha's main stops: the Corniche waterfront, the National Museum (housed in a desert-rose-inspired building), Katara Cultural Village with its theatres and galleries, Souq Waqif (the only traditional souq left in the Gulf, with its original late-19th-century architecture restored in 2004), and The Pearl-Qatar, the artificial island where foreign nationals can own property. A guide leads you through each, explaining Qatar's history and culture as you walk.
After the city, you switch to a 4x4 for the desert half. The vehicle is air-conditioned and equipped for dune driving. You stop at a Bedouin-style camp for tea, coffee and a camel ride, then head deeper into the sands toward Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea, a natural reserve where the water reaches far into the desert and is reachable only by crossing the rolling dunes. Sand boarding is free if you request it in advance.
The tour is private, so the pace and stops adjust to your interests. Hotel pickup is included, and the guide speaks English, Arabic or Urdu. Bottled water comes with you throughout the day.
Is this one for you?Hotel pickup means you don't need a car or navigate to a meeting point, and the private format lets you set the pace through both the city and the desert without waiting for a group.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Arabic and Urdu.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (1 to 11 years): free.
What is Souq Waqif like when you walk through it?
Souq Waqif is a traditional marketplace selling spices, handicrafts, garments and souvenirs, with restaurants and shisha lounges woven through the stalls. The buildings date to the late 19th and early 20th centuries in traditional Qatari style and were fully restored in 2004 using original architectural techniques, making it the only traditional souq still standing in the Gulf.
Can you actually drive to the Inland Sea, or is there another way to reach it?
Khor Al Adaid (the Inland Sea) lies 60 km south of Doha and is inaccessible by road, so the 4x4 crosses the rolling dunes to get there. This UNESCO-recognized natural reserve is one of the few places in the world where the sea cuts deep into the desert, creating its own ecosystem.
What happens at the Bedouin camp stop?
At the camp you have tea and coffee, ride a camel, and refresh yourself before continuing into the desert. Sand boarding is also available free of charge if you request it when booking.
