The whole thing runs from pickup at your hotel or agreed location in a 4x4 with air conditioning, then out past the city limits toward the inland sea. The day starts in the city. You'll pass the Museum of Islamic Art, designed by the same architect who built the Louvre Pyramid, and walk through Souq Waqif if there's time—the maze of spice shops and perfume stalls where the air gets thick and the calls of vendors overlap. Katara Cultural Village comes up too, the sprawling arts complex with theaters and galleries, and then the Corniche, the long waterfront promenade where the city's skyline reflects off the bay. The Pearl-Qatar, the man-made island development, sits visible from the road.
