The experience

The day starts at the National Museum of Qatar, where the story of the nation unfolds through exhibits on Qatar's heritage, culture and global ties. From there you move to the Doha Corniche, a 10-kilometer palm-lined promenade that curves around the bay with views across the Arabian Gulf, then to Katara Cultural Village: a sprawling complex of theatres, concert halls and galleries built as a hub for world cultures. The morning wraps at Souq Waqif, where narrow alleys hold spice stalls, perfume shops, jewellery and handicrafts alongside traditional music and cafes, giving a direct sense of how commerce and culture work in the old city.

After lunch or a break, the route turns south into the desert. You ride a camel across the sand, then experience dune bashing (the vehicle tackles the steep slopes of the dunes at speed), and try sandboarding down the slopes yourself.
