Snorkeling in Fajardo: Icacos Island with Lunch
The coral reef holds tropical fish and live formations you can reach by swimming straight out from the boat.
Snorkel from Icacos Island and a moored catamaran over a living coral reef in Fajardo's east coast waters, with all gear and lunch included. You arrive 45 minutes early to board, then swim and snorkel at two stops: first from the island's white sand shallows, then for about an hour over the reef where the boat holds position. The captain adjusts the second reef site based on water conditions, choosing from Tortugas, Lobos, Punta Aguila or Palominitos.

The experience
The boat leaves from Fajardo Marina, where you arrive 45 minutes before your reservation time. The catamaran or power boat heads east along Puerto Rico's coast, passing El Yunque National Forest before reaching Icacos Island. You disembark into knee-deep crystal-clear water and can snorkel from the shore, walk the white sand beach, or swim and sunbathe at your own pace.
The second stop is the working part: the vessel moors for roughly an hour over a living coral reef. Snorkeling gear is provided, so you enter the water equipped to watch tropical fish move through live coral formations. The captain picks which reef based on conditions that day (Tortugas, Lobos, Punta Aguila or Palominitos), so the marine life and visibility shift with the season and the sea state.
Lunch is buffet-style and served on board. Sodas, bottled water and alcoholic beverages (for guests 21 and older) are included. The whole outing runs 4 hours from start to finish.
