The Experience
The Barefoot IV catamaran leaves the dock at Villa Marina in Fajardo by 8:30 am and sails for 45 minutes to Icacos Island, one of the Fajardo Keys. Once anchored, you have the morning and early afternoon to swim in clear water, use the complimentary floating devices, play with beach toys (volleyballs, footballs, beach paddles), or walk the sand collecting shells. The boat stays put until after lunch, so there is no rush to get back on board.
Lunch is a sandwich buffet with cold cuts, cheeses, tuna, chicken, pasta salad and fresh fruit, served on the boat. Vegetarian options are available, and the crew can accommodate dietary restrictions if you contact them within 48 hours of your departure. Between the beach time and the meal, the day has a natural rhythm—no schedule pressure, no separate restaurant booking.
In the afternoon, the catamaran sails to a nearby reef where you snorkel with provided equipment to see tropical fish and coral. The water is shallow enough that floating belts are available if you need them. After snorkeling, the crew hoists the sail for the return to the dock. Bottled water, sodas, piña coladas and rum punch are available throughout the day. The entire outing runs about five hours from check-in to return.

What is Icacos Island like when we get there?
Icacos Island is a deserted beach with clear blue water. You can swim, sunbathe, play with beach toys, or walk the sand to collect shells. The catamaran anchors offshore and stays there for several hours, so you set your own pace on the beach without being rushed back to the boat.
Do we get snorkeling gear, or do we need to bring our own?
Snorkeling equipment is provided and included in the cruise price. Floating devices are also available if you want extra support in the water.
What time do we need to check in, and how long does the whole trip take?
Check-in at Villa Marina dock is by 8:30 am at the latest. The full cruise runs about five hours, including the 45-minute sail to the island, beach time, lunch, snorkeling at the reef, and the return sail.
Is lunch included, and can you handle dietary restrictions?
Lunch is a sandwich buffet with cold cuts, cheeses, tuna, chicken, pasta and fruit salads. Vegetarian options are included. If you have other dietary restrictions, contact the operator by phone within 48 hours of your booking date.
Can children come on this cruise?
Children are welcome from age 4 and up; proof of age is required. The boat has a bathroom on board, and floating devices are available to help younger swimmers in the water.
How far is the dock from San Juan, and what happens if the weather is bad?
Villa Marina dock is about 1 to 1.5 hours' drive from San Juan. If weather forces a cancellation, the captain makes the call on an hourly basis and you will not be charged. Do not skip the trip based on your own weather forecast—the captain watches conditions locally and makes the final decision.
