The experience

You ride a quad bike on marked off-road trails that climb through the Sete Cidades caldera, starting from Ponta Delgada and heading inland toward the crater rim. The route passes through Covoada and Pico do Carvão before reaching the first viewpoint at Miradouro Boca do Inferno, then continues to Miradouro Vista do Rei, where the two crater lakes come into view. The terrain shifts between dirt tracks and established trails, and the guide leads the way through each section.

Lunch happens at Sete Cidades, roughly halfway through the day. After eating, the ride continues past Lagoa das Sete Cidades and into the Caldeira das Sete Cidades before looping back through Lagoa de Santiago. The final stretch returns you to the tour office in Valados. All fuel is included, and you wear a helmet throughout. A valid driving license is required, and riders must be at least 25 years old. Children aged 8 and up can ride as passengers.
