The Experience

I’ll be honest, I almost missed the start because my coffee took forever (the café guy shrugged—Porto time, I guess). When I finally caught up with our group near the Cathedral, our guide Ana just grinned and waved me in like nothing happened. The first thing that hit me was how the city smells—sort of damp stone mixed with something sweet from a bakery nearby. We wandered through narrow streets while Ana pointed out little things I’d never notice alone, like the way people tap their fingers on café tables waiting for espresso. She told us that’s “tripeiro patience”—I’m still not sure if she was joking.

We ducked into São Bento station and honestly, those blue tiles are even better in person.
