The Experience

The tour begins at 9am with a guided walk through Porto's oldest neighborhoods. Your guide leads you past the majestic Sao Bento Railway Station and into the Ribeira district, where narrow streets open onto views of the Dom Luís I Bridge spanning the river below. Along the way, you stop inside Livraria Lello, one of Porto's most famous buildings, to see its ornate interior and shelves of books. The walk uncovers both the well-known landmarks and the quieter corners locals know.

After exploring the streets, you board a cable car that climbs above the city. As you ascend, the Douro River spreads out below, and the surrounding landscape comes into view: a shift from street level to a vantage point that shows how Porto sits between the hills and the water. (From November 17 to 30, the cable car undergoes maintenance and is replaced by the Guindais Funicular, which offers the same panoramic perspective.)

The tour concludes at the riverfront, where you board a comfortable boat for a river cruise. The boat glides under the city's iconic bridges, including the Dom Luís I, and drifts past traditional Rabelo boats and the colorful houses that line the water. The cruise offers a third angle on Porto: the view from the river itself, looking back at the architecture and the riverside charm that defines the city.
