You travel by bus from Faro to Algar Seco and Marinha Beach, seeing Benagil Cave from a clifftop vantage point instead of by boat. The tour includes the viewpoint, time to swim and eat lunch at Marinha, and the return drive to Faro. Choose between a 10:00 AM start (finishing around 2:15 PM) or a 3:30 PM start (finishing around 7:40 PM).
"Do I need to book a boat to see it?" That's the first thing most people ask about Benagil Cave, and the answer is no — at least not on this tour. You start at Faro Marina next to Creperia Yummy at either 10:00 AM or 3:30 PM, and the guide takes you by air-conditioned bus an hour east along the coast to Algar Seco first. The cave itself is no longer accessible from inside, but the tour brings you to a vantage point where you can see its full scale from above — the cathedral-like rock formation with the hole in the roof is still there, just viewed from a different angle than the boat tours get.
After Algar Seco, you move on to Marinha Beach around 1:00 PM or 6:00 PM depending on your departure time. This is where the day opens up. The beach sits below the Seven Hanging Valleys, and there's a small sea cave you can swim into if the water's calm enough. You bring your own lunch or buy something nearby, and the tour gives you a solid block of time to actually be in the water and on the sand instead of rushing between stops. The beach is smaller and rockier than the tourist strips further west, which is partly why it feels less crowded. Bring a swimsuit and a towel — both matter.
The whole thing wraps around 2:15 PM if you took the morning slot, or closer to 7:40 PM if you went with the afternoon departure. The drive back to Faro plays a playlist called "Sound of Sunshine," which sounds cheesy until you're actually on the bus watching the light change over the water. You'll want comfortable walking shoes because there's some uneven ground at both Algar Seco and Marinha, and sunscreen is non-negotiable — the Algarve sun reflects off the rocks and water. If you need a sun umbrella or extra lotion, you can request those when you book.
