The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup and transport to Auschwitz-Birkenau. An official English-speaking guide leads you through both Auschwitz I and the Birkenau section of the former concentration camp, with a break between the two and transport provided to move between them. Most of the visit is outdoors, so weather preparation matters. After Auschwitz, you travel to Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site operating since the 13th century.

At Wieliczka, another official guide takes you underground through chambers and passages carved from salt. You descend 380 stairs to reach the first level of the mine. An elevator brings you back up at the end. The temperature inside stays around 16 degrees Celsius year-round. The mine includes chapels, statues and a dining hall all carved from salt, and the route is designed as a standard full-time tour rather than a self-paced walk.

All entrance fees, transport between sites and guide services are included. The driver and tour leader speak English and handle logistics throughout the day. You'll need to provide full names for all participants and bring photo ID (passport or driving license): Auschwitz requires this for security screening at the entrance.
