Auschwitz-Birkenau tour from Krakow: guided visit to both camps
The camps are two separate sites, and the tour covers both in a single day.
This is a 7-hour guided tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp complex departing from Krakow. You travel by air-conditioned coach to the UNESCO World Heritage site, explore both Auschwitz I (the barracks, gas chambers and exhibition halls) and Auschwitz II-Birkenau (the watchtowers, crumbled buildings and memorials) with a live guide who explains the history and function of the camps with care and sensitivity. A guide in English, Italian, French or Dutch is included; hotel pickup is available on some options, and all tours depart from the Kiss&Ride parking at 2 Wielopole Street unless you book hotel pickup. Departure times range from 7 am to 11:30 am, confirmed the evening before.

The Experience
You're picked up from central Krakow (or your hotel, depending on the option you choose) and travel roughly 90 minutes by coach to the site. Security procedures and formalities happen on arrival, then you enter the museum with your guide. The tour itself covers both camps in sequence: Auschwitz I first, where you walk through the barracks, see the gas chambers and visit the exhibition halls; then a short break before moving to Auschwitz II-Birkenau, where you see the watchtowers, the crumbled remains of the camp and the memorials. Your guide explains what you're standing in front of throughout, and the headsets ensure you hear clearly even in larger groups.
The return journey takes another 90 minutes, which the operator describes as time to reflect on what you've seen and heard before you're dropped back in the center of Krakow. The whole day is 7 hours from pickup to drop-off. Tours run in English, Italian, French or Dutch depending on which option you book. Check in 15 minutes before your departure time at the meeting point; the exact start time arrives by message the evening before, since departures vary between 7 am and 11:30 am.
