The Experience

We’d already lost track of what was real by the time we reached the upside-down room — my niece was giggling so hard she nearly dropped her phone. The Museum of Illusions isn’t huge (400 square meters, I think), but it feels like you’re wandering through a maze designed by someone who loves to mess with your head. There’s this one spot where the floor tilts just enough to make you question your balance, and I swear I heard someone mutter “wait, is that even possible?” behind me.

The staff here are honestly part of the fun. One guy in a blue shirt showed us how to line up for a photo so it looked like my brother’s head was floating (he looked way too happy about it). There were families with strollers, a couple of teenagers trying to outdo each other with silly poses, and even a woman with a guide dog who seemed just as amused as everyone else. It’s one of those places where nobody’s too cool to laugh at themselves — which I didn’t expect, but kind of loved.

I still think about that weird tunnel illusion — you know, where the lights spin and suddenly your feet feel like jelly? My niece tried to explain the science but got distracted by some mirror trick halfway through. We didn’t rush; there’s no guide hurrying you along or anything. And when we left, the air outside felt extra sharp after all those warped rooms and bright colors. So yeah, if you’re in town and want something playful (with easy entry and no fuss), this museum is worth an hour or two. I’d go again just for that spinning tunnel feeling.
