  • Enter dunes and pay entrance fee

The experience

You meet at a designated point in Huacachina by 4 PM (4:30 PM in summer months, January through March, when the sun sets later). Arrive a few minutes early to use the restrooms and get ready. You can also buy optional protective gear here if you want it. From there, you head to the dunes, pass through the entrance gate, and pay the S/8.10 fee in cash. Your guide is also your driver and stays with you throughout.

The buggy ride climbs a small dune first, where you fasten your seatbelts and take a few photos before heading out. What follows is two hours on the dunes themselves: the buggy tackles the natural terrain like a roller coaster, and your guide handles the driving while you experience the adrenaline. Sandboarding happens lying down on the board, a method safe for all fitness levels. Your guide shows you how it's done and you take multiple runs down different dunes. The sunset is the centerpiece: Huacachina's sunsets are noted as unique, and you have time to stop, relax, and photograph them before the ride ends.

Bring lightweight clothing, sunscreen, and sunglasses. During public holidays and Holy Week (late March, July, and year-end), the experience shortens to one hour due to high demand. The guide speaks English or Spanish. If you want a private buggy instead of a shared one, contact the operator via WhatsApp to arrange it.

What’s included
