The experience

The tour picks you up at your Panama City hotel or location and drives 90 minutes to Playa Escondida, a Caribbean beach project built around white sand, clear water and palm-lined shores. Once there, you have access to the full resort for the day: two lagoon pools, a separate kids' pool area, beach chairs under the rancho, and a BBQ setup. Two restaurants on the property (Casa Club Restaurant & Bar and Island Wahoo Restaurant & Bar) are open to you, though food and drink orders come from your own budget.

A guide accompanies the group throughout the day and speaks English or Spanish. The resort also has an inflatable water park you can use at your own risk, with lifejackets available. Water bikes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and electric pool boats are available to rent separately if you want them. The return drive to Panama City takes another 90 minutes, so plan for a full 12-hour outing from pickup to drop-off.

The tour runs Monday through Thursday only and is not available during Panama's national holidays. Children under 3 travel free. You're welcome to bring your own drinks, which can save money over a full day of restaurant purchases.
