The experience

Wahiba Sands is part of Oman's Al Sharqiya Sands, a vast desert of white and red sand dunes that reach up to 200 meters high. The tour takes you across these dunes by vehicle, with stops for photos and the chance to watch camels and the landscape shift as light changes. After the dune driving, you head to Wadi Bani Khalid, an oasis fed by a waterfall and ringed with date palms and rock formations. The water is clear enough to swim in, and you can explore canyon paths, relax by the pools, or venture into caves with your guide.

Which option you pick shapes the day. The Desert & Oasis option starts around 8:00 AM and moves straight from dunes to water. The Sunset & Sandboards option begins between 9:00 and 11:00 AM (depending on season), reverses the order, and keeps you in Wahiba Sands long enough to watch the golden light fade across the dunes before heading back to Muscat. The Private Journey option lets you set your own start time and travel with your own guide and vehicle, with no other passengers. Group options include a buffet lunch. The private option does not.

Hotel pickup from anywhere in Muscat is included, and the exact time will be confirmed one day before via WhatsApp. Bring modest swimwear for the oasis pools. Bottled water and an air-conditioned vehicle are provided. The tour is not recommended for pregnant guests or anyone with spinal injuries due to dune bashing, though a private tour without dune driving can be arranged as an alternative. Children from age 5 are welcome.
