The Experience

You board a small-group vehicle at the ship and head straight into Dunedin. The first stop is Baldwin Street—the world's steepest street—where you get 20 minutes to walk it, photograph it or watch other visitors attempt it. The guide brings JAFFAs (a local sweet you'll taste here) and explains what makes this street a landmark. From there you climb to Signal Hill, where the guide points out the entire city and peninsula spread below and takes photos of your group with the view behind you.

The route then moves through Dunedin's oldest gardens—in October and November you'll see the Rhododendron Dell in bloom; in summer the native birds and a downhill walk lead to the rose gardens.
