The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your hotel, airport or cruise port: no separate meeting point, no waiting around. From there you head to Bastion Point for the first panoramic views: the Waitematā Harbour spreads out in front of you, Rangitoto Island sits on the horizon, and the city skyline fills the rest. The route then follows the waterfront through Mission Bay, a coastal suburb seven kilometres from the city centre, before cutting inland through the historic streets of Parnell and the bustling Newmarket area. A guide travels with you the entire time, pointing out the significance of each stop and the history woven through the neighbourhoods.

The second half crosses the Auckland Harbour Bridge to the North Shore. You'll learn about the bridge itself as you drive it, then arrive in Devonport, a Victorian-era seaside village where boutique shops line the streets and the pace slows down. From there you climb to Mount Victoria Reserve, where the summit delivers panoramic views across Auckland City, the harbour and the islands beyond.
