The experience

The guide meets you in Pokhara before the trek starts and picks you up from your hotel or chosen location on day one: after you've had breakfast. Each day follows the same rhythm: breakfast around 7 am at the lodge, walking by 8 am, a tea break around 10 am, lunch between noon and 1 pm, and arrival at the next lodge by 3 or 4 pm. Above 3,500 meters, the day ends after lunch to let your body adjust to altitude. You walk at your own pace with the guide. There's no fixed group size, so the trek is as social or solitary as you want it.

Trekking poles, sleeping bags, head lamps and rain ponchos come with the guide. You don't buy or carry them to Nepal. All accommodations are included in the price, up to two rooms per night, and you eat at mountain restaurants where you choose your meals from the menu each day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and hot drinks are available. The guide covers the cost. The guide also carries professional camera gear (Canon 5D Mark IV with landscape lens and Bushnell binoculars) and will photograph you during the trek. On the last day, the guide drops you back in Pokhara at your chosen location.

Trekking permits are issued by the guide once you provide a passport photo and selfie. The guide speaks English and has managed treks for major Nepalese agencies before working as a freelancer. He's insured and prioritizes your safety. Porters are available for an extra charge of USD 20 per porter per day if you want help carrying up to 20 kg of luggage. Tips for the guide are not compulsory, though tips for porters are expected if you hire them.

Is this one for you?Choose the Annapurna Circuit if you want a well-known high-altitude loop. Choose ABC Trek if you prefer a shorter, lower-altitude route. Both are 5 days with the same guide and lodging structure, so the difference is the terrain and the villages you pass through. The guide's experience managing treks for major agencies and his ranking suit trekkers who want a knowledgeable, safety-focused guide without the cost and logistics of a large trekking company.

Top questions

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What's the difference between the Annapurna Circuit and ABC Trek options?

You choose one route at checkout. Both are 5-day treks in the Annapurna region with the same guide, lodging and meal structure. The Annapurna Circuit and ABC Trek follow different paths and pass through different villages and altitudes. The guide can explain the specific stops and scenery of each route before you book.

Do I need to arrange my own trekking insurance?

Trekking insurance is not included in the price and you should arrange it yourself before the trek. The guide's insurance covers the guide and the guide's liability, not the trekkers.

What happens if I want to customize the route or change the itinerary?

You can customize the itinerary yourself without reducing the number of days. Discuss any changes with the guide before the trek starts or during the trek itself. The daily rhythm of walking, meals and lodge stops stays the same.

Are meals included in the price, or do I pay separately at each lodge?

All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea or hot chocolate) are included in the trek price. You choose what you eat from the menu at each restaurant and lodge, and the guide pays. Soft drinks and hard drinks are available and included.

What if I want a porter to carry my bag?

Porters are available for USD 20 per porter per day and can carry up to 20 kg of luggage. You arrange this with the guide. It's not included in the base price.

What should I know about altitude on this trek?

The Annapurna Circuit reaches above 3,500 meters. At that altitude, the guide finishes the day's walk after lunch rather than continuing, giving your body time to acclimatize and reducing the risk of altitude sickness. You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness for this trek.
