The experience

You leave Casablanca in the morning and head inland to Marrakech, starting with the Palm Grove: a quiet stretch of palms that opens into the city proper. From there the day moves through Majorelle Garden, where French painter Jacques Majorelle planted exotic species and vibrant blooms around a Berber Museum, then to the Koutoubia Mosque, whose 77-meter minaret rises above the medina and anchors the skyline. The Menara Gardens come next, a formal expanse of olive trees and a reflecting pool with a pavilion at its edge.

The afternoon shifts to the old medina itself. You walk the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter with its narrow streets and traditional terracotta houses, then move to the Saadian Tombs: 16th-century royal burial chambers rediscovered in 1917. Bahia Palace follows: a 19th-century structure with carved wooden ceilings, mosaic tilework and gardens that blend Arab-Andalusian and Moorish design. Jemaa el-Fna, the central square, is where the day lands: a place of storytellers, musicians, snake charmers and food stalls where the sounds and scents of Morocco concentrate into one open space.

Your driver speaks English, French or Arabic and stays with you throughout. The tour includes a camel ride, bottled water, snacks and WiFi on the vehicle. Hotel pickup and drop-off in downtown Casablanca bookend the day, so you don't arrange separate transport to or from the coast.
