The experience
The tour starts at the Hassan II Mosque on Casablanca's coast (the largest mosque in Africa with the world's tallest minaret) before heading south to Marrakech. Once there, you ride a camel through the Palm Grove, a 140-square-kilometer oasis on the city's edge planted with a hundred thousand palms. The guide handles the route and timing. You sit back in an air-conditioned vehicle between stops.
In Marrakech proper, the itinerary moves through Majorelle Garden, a botanical garden built around cobalt-blue buildings and exotic plants, then past the Koutoubia Mosque and its 77-meter minaret. Jemaa el-Fna square, the UNESCO-listed heart of the city, comes alive with street performers, musicians and food stalls, especially toward evening. You walk the Medina's maze of narrow alleys and souks, including Souk Semmarine, where vendors sell textiles, pottery and handcrafted goods. Bahia Palace, an 19th-century residence spanning over eight hectares, shows off carved wooden ceilings, colorful tiles and gardens of orange trees.
The guide speaks English, French or Arabic, and pickup from your Casablanca hotel is included. Bottled water and WiFi travel with you. Tickets to Bahia Palace and the Secret Garden are not included in the price. Budget around 100 MAD per person for each if you want to enter.
