The experience
You're picked up from your Casablanca hotel and driven south to Marrakech. A journey that gives you time to settle in before the day unfolds. The tour opens at the Hassan II Mosque back in Casablanca, where your guide explains the minaret, the tallest in the world, and the scale of the prayer hall that holds 25,000 faithful. Then the route turns toward Marrakech proper, and the real exploration begins: the palm grove where you ride a camel on a guided loop through the trees, a moment most visitors come for and few forget.
Once in the medina, you move through the Majorelle Garden (a botanical space of around 300 species planted across nearly a hectare, with an Art Deco villa and a museum of Berber history), then into the older quarters: the Mellah, Marrakech's Jewish district and the second oldest of its kind in Morocco; the Bahia Palace, an eight-hectare 19th-century compound in Moorish style; and the Koutoubia Mosque, the most important in the city and one of the largest in the Islamic world when it was finished in 1158. Jemaa el-Fna square, the medina's living heart, draws more than a million visitors yearly. You'll see why when you stand in it. The Souk Semmarine (a colorful passage lined with fabric merchants, craftspeople and antiquity dealers) leads deeper into the specialized souks for spices, carpets and slippers.
Lunch is included and built into the day. Your guide is a registered historian fluent in your choice of English, Spanish, French or Arabic, and the van carries WiFi and bottled water. Transport time is counted as part of the total duration, so the eleven to twelve hours accounts for the drive both ways and every stop in between. Infants travel in a pram or stroller if needed, and the pace suits all fitness levels.

Is this one for you?At eleven to twelve hours, the tour fills most of a day but leaves room for an early breakfast before pickup or a late dinner after drop-off. If you're based in Casablanca for only one afternoon, this won't fit. If you have a full day free, it uses it completely.
