The experience

You arrive at the beach and meet your instructor and one other student. Each of you gets your own complete setup: kite, bar, board, harness, helmet and life vest, plus a wetsuit. The instructor assesses where you're starting from (whether you've never touched a kite or you've already ridden before), and builds the session around that. Beginners work through the first stages of control and balance. If you're coming back to it, the focus shifts to whatever you want to refine, whether that's posture, stance or riding upwind.

A 2-hour taster gives you a real introduction and a first feel for the board if conditions allow. If you have more time, a 6–12 hour course spreads the learning across multiple sessions so you move through the stages without rushing: you'll experience your first ride on the board, then build toward riding downwind and thinking through the mechanics of going upwind. The instructor is there the whole time, not rotating between groups, so the pacing stays yours.

Explora Watersports sits right at the beach where the wind and swell work best for learning. The gear is new each year, and the team speaks English, Spanish, French and German, so language isn't a barrier to understanding what's happening on the water or on the beach.
