The experience

You meet your guide in front of Café Argana on Jemaa el-Fna, Marrakech's main square, where he briefs you on what to expect and answers opening questions. From there the tour moves into the medina's narrow streets toward Bahia Palace, a 19th-century residence that once housed the city's most powerful officials. The palace has no single architectural plan: each vizier who lived there added rooms and courtyards according to his own taste, so the layout shifts and surprises as you move through it.

Inside, your guide walks you through the palace's tranquil courtyards and reception rooms, pointing out the zellij tilework (geometric mosaics cut and fitted by hand), the carved cedar ceilings, and the painted walls that survive from the royal era.
