The experience

The taxi picks you up at the Agadir cruise terminal and drives 10 minutes to the family-run ranch. Your guide meets you there, introduces you to your dromedary (one camel per rider, no sharing), and walks you through how the animal will stand and kneel before you mount. The guides assist you up, and once seated, you ride for 90 minutes to 2 hours through traditional Berber villages, fragrant eucalyptus groves and sand dunes toward the Souss River.

The river itself is a protected reserve where wild pink flamingos gather during daylight. Your guide stops here so you can take in the scene and photograph it. Throughout the ride, the guides carry cameras and help you capture yourself in the traditional blue l'foukkia tunic and litham turban they provide. These are included so you have authentic souvenir photos without bringing your own costume.

After the ride, you rest under a Berber tent at the ranch with freshly brewed mint tea and local cookies. The guides then arrange your taxi back to the cruise port, timed to match your ship's departure. The operator coordinates with cruise schedules and guarantees your return, so you don't have to calculate timing yourself or worry about missing the boat.

How does the camel stand up and sit down when I'm riding it?

The camel raises its rear legs first when standing, which tilts you slightly forward, then raises its front legs, tilting you back. When kneeling, the movement reverses: front legs lower first, then rear legs. Your guide explains this before you mount and the camel is fully kneeling while you get on and off.

What happens if I'm not comfortable on the camel? Can I ride for a shorter time?

Yes. Senior guests and anyone concerned about their comfort can choose a shorter riding period, such as 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1.5 hours instead of the full 90 minutes to 2 hours. Discuss your preference with the guides before the ride begins.

Will I be alone on the camel, or do multiple people ride together?

One guest rides per camel. The operator limits each excursion to 12 riders maximum, which means each camel carries only one person and the animals get rest time between groups.

What's included in the price, and what costs extra?

The ride, guide, traditional nomadic costume for photos, mint tea and local cookies are included. The taxi transfer from the cruise port to the ranch and back costs €30 per taxi, paid directly to the driver. Lunch is not included.

What should I wear and bring for the ride?

Wear comfortable clothing and closed, secure footwear suitable for sand and uneven terrain: sandals or flip-flops are not safe. Bring sun protection: a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. The guides provide the traditional blue tunic and turban for photos.

How do I get from the cruise port to the ranch?

The operator arranges a taxi (Taxi No. 1080) that picks you up at the Agadir port. Before arrival, Dar Souss Loisir sends you a photo of the taxi via WhatsApp so you can identify the correct vehicle. The 10-minute drive costs €30, paid directly to the driver.
