Eat four taco styles, then taste mezcal straight from the maker

A 2.5-hour activity in Mexico City where you taste tacos at top taquerias in Polanco, then sit with an artisan mezcal producer from Oaxaca who walks you through three mezcals and teaches you how to drink them. You try pastor, campechano, regidor and cochinita pibil tacos, each one a different regional style or Mexico City specialty.

The experience

The activity starts at a series of taquerias where you work through four taco styles: pastor (spit-grilled pork, chicken or mushroom), campechano (a Mexico City-only mix of meat, chicharrón and sausage), regidor (marlin with Oaxaca cheese), and cochinita pibil (a southeastern pork taco with habanero sauce and axiote spice). Each one teaches you something about how tacos work (the filling, the salsa, the regional variation), and by the end you understand why knowing the best taco places in Mexico carries real social weight.

After the tacos, you meet a Maestro Mezcalero, an artisan producer from Oaxaca. He shares the history of mezcal, how it's made, and the right way to drink it. You taste three different mezcals, all from local producers, all traditional and authentic. The producer answers whatever you want to know. The questions are yours to ask, and the mezcals are ones you won't find anywhere else.

A live English-speaking guide leads the whole experience. Public transportation options are nearby if you need them. The activity runs 2.5 hours and suits all fitness levels. It's not recommended for pregnant travelers.
