Five mezcals, five stories, and the chance to find the one that's yours.

A 90-minute mezcal tasting class in Palenque led by a live guide in English or Spanish, where you taste five agave spirits from across Mexico and learn the history, tasting techniques and flavor profiles that separate them. Chocolate, fruits and spices complement each pour; if you find one you love, you can buy it to take home — some bottles aren't available anywhere else. Minimum age 18.

The Experience

The class opens with the history and heritage of mezcal, how this complex spirit originated and why it became so popular in the last 20 years. Your guide walks you through tasting techniques that differ from wine or whiskey, then moves into the flavor profiles that matter — mezcal isn't as prescriptive as wine, but distinct flavors deserve real discussion. The goal is to help you find the type of agave spirit that moves both your palate and your soul.

You'll taste five agave spirits sourced from palenques, vinatas and campos across Mexico, with generous pours and chocolate, fruits and spices to complement each one. Guests share tasting notes with each other and debate their favorites — it feels like an intimate dinner party with an activity built in, not awkward at all. Visual aids and captivating stories ground each tasting in the soil, age and characteristics of the agave behind it.

If you find a bottle you love, you can take it home with you. Some of the spirits poured here aren't available anywhere else, so the class becomes the story you tell when you share it with friends and family back home.
