Three Separate Rushes in One Morning: Speed Boat, Jungle Ride, Zipline

You speed across the bay past Los Arcos, ride an unimog up a jungle road to the zipline base, then work through 19 canopy lines at your own pace. After, you can swim in the river, try the tequila tasting, or paddle kayaks before the boat returns you to Puerto Vallarta. The day is built so you're always moving between activities, and nothing overlaps — you get three separate experiences without dead time between them.

The Experience

The curiosity hits first — you're standing at the main marina pier in Puerto Vallarta, and the speed boat is already there, 28 people capacity, engine humming. You're about to cross the bay in something built for motion, not sightseeing. The boat leaves and Los Arcos Natural Park slides past on your right, limestone formations rising out of the water, and then you're heading toward Boca de Tomatlan fishing village where the real day starts. The whole crossing takes maybe 20 minutes, but it's the kind of 20 minutes where you realize you're not doing the usual resort loop.

Once you land, an unimog all-terrain vehicle is waiting — this is the part most people don't expect. It's not a tour bus. It's a serious jungle machine, and it climbs. The driver takes you up from the village to the zipline base, and the road gets narrower and steeper the higher you go. You can feel the landscape change. After you arrive and get your safety briefing, there are 19 ziplines strung through the canopy. Some are short, some are long, and you move through them in sequence — it's not one big drop, it's a progression, which means even if heights aren't your thing, you have time to adjust. The tequila tasting happens after, which is a nice way to come down from the adrenaline. If you want to swim in the river or paddle the kayaks, that's there too. There's also a small animal sanctuary on the grounds.

The whole experience is structured so you're not waiting around between activities — you move from one to the next, and the transitions are part of the day. Bring water and wear shoes that grip. Food and drinks aren't included, so eat before you leave Puerto Vallarta or plan to grab something in Boca de Tomatlan on the way back. The boat ride home is the same route in reverse, and by then you've burned through three completely different kinds of adrenaline.

Top questions

How long is the whole day from start to finish?

Around 6 hours total, including the boat crossing, unimog drive, zipline course, and return trip to Puerto Vallarta.

Is the speed boat ride rough?

It's a speed boat crossing an open bay, so expect motion and spray. The crossing to Boca de Tomatlan takes roughly 20 minutes.

What happens if I'm scared of heights?

The 19 ziplines are progressive — you move through them in sequence rather than doing one long drop, which gives you time to adjust. You can also skip the ziplines and just do the boat and unimog portions.

Is lunch included?

No, food and drinks are not included. You should eat before departure or plan to grab something in Boca de Tomatlan.

Can I do just the boat ride without the ziplines?

The package includes all three activities — boat, unimog, and ziplines — as a single experience. Check with the operator if you want to modify it.

What's the unimog ride like?

It's an all-terrain vehicle that climbs from Boca de Tomatlan village up to the zipline base. The road is steep and narrow, and it's part of the adventure, not a scenic drive.

Do I need to be fit for this?

Moderate physical fitness is recommended. The activity is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnant travelers, or those with poor cardiovascular health.

What's included in the tequila tasting?

A tequila tasting demonstration happens after the ziplines. It's included as part of the day, though additional drinks or food are not.
