The Longest Zipline in Puerto Vallarta Starts With a Boat Ride Across the Bay

You're transported by boat or truck to Los Veranos canopy in the Sierra Madre, where you zipline across 19 lines through jungle above the Los Horcones River, with the longest stretching 1,800 feet. After the lines, you swim in natural pools, taste tequila, and explore the animal sanctuary before returning to town. The whole day takes about half your schedule.

Step-by-step itinerary

Zipline adventure and scenic transport

  • Travel by boat across Banderas Bay
  • Zipline through Los Veranos jungle
  • Return trip passing Puerto Vallarta town

The Experience

The boat was supposed to leave at nine, but the captain was still checking lines at 8:47. Not a problem — it meant we had time to actually look at Banderas Bay instead of just crossing it. The water was flat and green, and the Sierra Madre was already visible on the far side, the trees so thick they looked like one solid wall. That's where Los Veranos sits, and that's where the 19 ziplines are strung between the canopy. The boat option isn't available on weekends, so if you're going then, you'll take a jungle truck instead, but the water crossing is worth timing around if you can.

Los Veranos is the original canopy zipline system in Puerto Vallarta, and the longest single line runs 1,800 feet — long enough that you stop thinking about the ground and just feel the speed. The guides are trained and attentive without being intrusive; they check your harness, show you the brake technique, and then let you go. Between lines you move through the canopy on platforms, and the whole thing takes a few hours. The setting is real jungle — not a manicured park — so you're hearing birds, seeing the Los Horcones River below, and breathing air that smells like wet earth and leaves. It's not a gentle float through the trees; it's active and a bit adrenaline-soaked, which is the point.

After the ziplines, you stop at the riverfront Los Veranos Café. There's a tequila tasting (ID required, 21+), and if you want to cool off, there are natural river pools. Some people skip the pools and head straight to the animal sanctuary on the property; others do both. The return to your starting point takes you past Puerto Vallarta itself — you see the town from the water or the truck, but you don't stop. The whole experience is a half-day thing, which means you're back with time to do something else, or just sit by the ocean and recover.

Book this if you want the zipline without arranging your own transport to the jungle — the pickup from Marina at La Cruz, Marina Paradise at Nuevo Vallarta, or other spots in town means you show up, get collected, and the rest is handled. The boat crossing is a bonus if weekday timing works for you.
