Cozumel Reef Diving: Two Guided Dives for Certified Divers
Two dives, two reefs, one morning in Cozumel's clearest water
Cozumel Reef Diving is a half-day scuba activity for certified divers featuring two guided dives at Cozumel's reefs, led by PADI instructors in small groups. You depart early from Marina Fonatour, dive two sites with time to rest and eat between them, and return by early afternoon. The boat is comfortable with shade; breakfast and lunch are included. English and Spanish guides available; minimum age 12.
The Experience
The boat leaves Marina Fonatour early in the morning and heads straight to the reefs on a comfortable vessel with shade. You'll make two guided dives at two different sites, with a PADI certified instructor leading the group. Between dives, you rest onboard, eat snacks and drink water — time enough to decompress and talk through what you saw. The pace is relaxed and the groups stay small, so the day doesn't feel rushed.
Cozumel's reefs sit in water clear enough that visibility runs deep, and the marine life is the reason divers come back. Your instructor — guides here include Katia, Eduardo and Steffan — knows the sites and watches the group, but the diving itself is yours to do. You're in the water for roughly five hours total, including the boat ride out, the surface interval and the return. Breakfast and lunch are part of the package, so you're not hunting for food between dives.
The activity returns you by early afternoon, which leaves the rest of your day open. Public transportation options are available near the marina if you need to get back to your hotel or into town.

What are the two reefs I'll dive on this trip?
The specific reef sites depend on conditions and what the guides choose that morning — Cozumel has multiple dive sites and the instructors pick based on weather, water and what the group is ready for. You'll know which two once you arrive at the marina.
How deep do the dives go?
The depth depends on the reef sites chosen and your certification level. Your PADI instructor will brief you on depth, conditions and what to expect before you enter the water.
Is this trip suitable if I haven't dived in a long time?
This trip is for certified divers only, so you'll need current certification. If you're certified but haven't dived recently, let your instructor know at the marina — they can review skills and adjust the pace if needed.
What happens if the weather is bad on the morning of my dive?
Cozumel diving depends on sea conditions. If weather makes diving unsafe, the operator will work with you on rescheduling or other options — confirm the cancellation and rescheduling policy when you book.
Can I do this dive if I'm a beginner with no certification?
This specific trip is for certified divers only. The operator also offers a separate Scuba Dive for Beginners option if you'd like to get certified or do your first dive with instruction.
