The experience

You meet at Marina Fonatur and board the boat for the main reefs of Cozumel. The crew briefs you on the way out, then you enter the water for the first dive. The reef here holds sharks, rays, turtles, moray eels and smaller fish moving through the coral: the kind of marine life that makes Cozumel a destination. After you surface, there's a light lunch and an hour on the boat before the second dive at a different reef, so you're not repeating the same site or the same angle on the water.

The group stays at 5 divers maximum with one guide, which changes how the dive feels. You're not herding through a line or waiting for someone else's air consumption to dictate the pace. The guide knows the exclusive routes, the spots other operators don't run, and the video crew captures the dive on GoPro so you have footage to keep. Bottled water is provided throughout, and the brunch between dives means you're not hungry by the time you get back to the marina.
