The Experience

We rolled out of Cancun before sunrise — I was still half-asleep when our driver, Jorge, handed me a cold bottle of water and grinned like he’d been up for hours. The road to Chichen Itza is long but not boring; you start seeing the jungle thicken, and every so often Jorge would point out something random — a roadside stand selling tamarind candies, or a guy on a scooter balancing three crates of eggs.
