The Experience

I’ll be honest — I nearly chickened out when they handed me the helmet for the ATV ride. The thing looked way more intense than I’d pictured from the photos. Our guide Luis just grinned and told us to “trust the machine,” which sounded like something out of a sci-fi movie. But once we started bouncing along those muddy jungle tracks outside Cancun, with birds screeching overhead and that earthy smell after last night’s rain, I forgot about nerves. My hands were shaking — in a good way.

The zip line part was next, and my legs felt like jelly climbing up (I’m not great with heights). But everyone cheered each other on — even this little kid who zipped ahead of all of us and yelled “vámonos!” halfway across. The tightrope walk? Let’s just say my balance isn’t what it used to be, but Luis kept shouting encouragement from below. There was this moment where everything went quiet except for the wind in the trees and someone laughing behind me — kind of surreal.

By the time we rappelled down and made it to the cenote, I was sweaty and covered in dust. Jumping into that cold water felt like hitting reset on my whole body. It’s open-air, so you can see sunlight flickering across the surface — honestly I could’ve floated there all afternoon if they’d let me. Lunch was simple tacos (I ate three), plus snacks and water whenever we needed them. Nobody rushed us; people swapped stories about their favorite part while drying off on the rocks.

What’s included

Your day includes round-trip transportation from most hotels in Cancun or Puerto Morelos, all equipment (like harnesses and helmets), professional bilingual guides leading each activity, plenty of water and light snacks along the way plus a taco station for lunch before heading back to your hotel covered in dust but grinning like an idiot.
