The experience

What makes this different from a simulator or a video is the moment the jetpack lifts you out of the water. After a quick safety briefing on shore, you put on a helmet and life jacket, wade into the Caribbean, and listen to final instructions through headphones that keep you connected to your guide the whole time. Within seconds of the jets firing up, you're airborne: climbing to 30 feet above the surface with no previous experience required. The throttle stays in your guide's hands. They dial the power up or down based on what you're ready for, so you focus on the flying part instead of managing the engine.

Once you're comfortable in the air, you learn to taxi across the water, turn, climb and descend. The 20-minute flight gives you time to get the basics down and execute one final trick before you land. The 30-minute option lets you practice longer and build confidence in the maneuvers. Either way, you get a souvenir photo of yourself mid-flight, available to purchase after you're back on solid ground. Showers and toilets are on-site, and the whole experience is built so that swimmers of any fitness level can do it: the guide adjusts the difficulty to match your comfort.
